Am I The Instructional Leader My School Needs?

WORKSHOP TITLE:  Am I The Instructional Leader My School Needs?

DURATION: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (3 hours)

FACILITATOR: Dr. Dawn Chesney-Bynoe

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This interactive workshop is designed for school leaders who want to strengthen their impact on teaching and learning.

Instructional Leadership is more than managing a school; it is about shaping vision, guiding classroom practice, building teacher capacity, and ultimately improving student outcomes. Through self-assessment, case studies, and guided reflection, participants will examine their current leadership practices and explore what it truly means to be an instructional leader. Leaders will engage in reflective activities, analyse real-world examples where instructional leadership made measurable differences, and collaborate with peers to identify practical strategies for change.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Analyse their current leadership practices using a reflective framework to identify strengths and growth areas.
  • Compare traditional school leadership with instructional leadership.
  • Articulate the key elements of effective instructional leadership.
  • Design a personal action plan with at least three evidence-based strategies to strengthen their instructional leadership practice within 30 days.
  • Commit to one measurable change in their leadership approach that directly supports teacher growth and student learning outcomes.

TARGET GROUP:

School Principals, Deputy Principals, Education Officers, Master Teachers, Senior Teachers and Heads of Departments.
