WORKSHOP TITLE: Creating Manipulatives to use in Early Childhood Classrooms

DURATION: 10 hours, 2 days (5 hours per day)
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
In this hands-on workshop participants will learn more about the importance of supporting imaginative play and lateral thinking in early childhood through the use of manipulatives. Participants will have a wonderful, relaxing time creating manipulatives which will be used in their EC classrooms to support and scaffold learning.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to
- Use recycled and or low-cost materials to develop manipulatives for students.
- Explain how the manipulatives developed can be used in the EC classroom.
TARGET PARTICIPANTS:
Early Childhood Educators and Coordinators; Students of Erdiston College.
REQUIRED MATERIALS:
Please bring your laptop or some other suitable Smart device. Workshop attendees are also asked to bring: plasticine, pencils, crayons, markers, a ruler, an eraser, a pair of scissors, a glue gun and glue sticks.
