TOPIC: Decoding Worded Problems: Using Bar Models at the Primary Level

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
The consistent challenge for many Mathematics students is solving worded problems. The purpose of this workshop is to expose educators to the techniques and strategies available to empower students to approach these problems with confidence.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:
- Apply a heuristic approach to student learning in solving worded problems.
- Facilitate discussion and divergent thought in the Mathematics classroom.
- Guide students in the creation of items, thereby allowing them to think critically and creatively.
TARGET GROUP: Teachers of Mathematics at the primary level.
