WORKSHOP TITLE: Demystifying Artificial Intelligence for Educators
DURATION: 5 hours
FACILITATOR: Mr. Dwayne Best
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
This workshop introduces in-service teachers to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on education. Participants will engage in hands-on activities to explore AI-driven tools, evaluate their benefits and challenges, and develop strategies for integrating AI into their teaching practice. AI has the potential to enhance learning by personalizing instruction, automating administrative tasks, and providing real-time feedback. However, its implementation raises ethical and pedagogical concerns. This workshop will help teachers critically assess AI’s role in the classroom and make informed decisions about its use.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Define Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Identify examples and non-examples of AI.
- Explain key AI concepts such as machine learning, natural language processing, and neural networks in a simplified manner.
- Evaluate AI-powered educational tools and their potential classroom applications.
- List at least four (4) ethical concerns related to AI use in education.
- Use Artificial Intelligence to decrease teacher workload.
