TOPIC: Exploring Effective Questioning Techniques - Why? What? When? How?

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
This interactive workshop will equip participants with research-based questioning strategies that enhance student engagement, deepen learning, and foster a culture of inquiry. Participants will explore different types of questions, learn how to frame discussions and explore questioning techniques for increased learner participation. Through scenarios, role-playing, and real-world examples, workshop participants will develop the skills to craft purposeful questions that challenge students to think beyond the surface. Additionally, they will be given guidance in setting the stage for questioning and their functioning as they use questions in the classroom context.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the workshop participants should be able to:
- Outline the importance and role of questioning in learning, communication, and problem-solving in the classroom.
- Identify different types of questions and their specific applications.
- Craft questions at different levels and for various contexts.
- Use questioning techniques appropriate for different teaching and learning situations.
- Encourage active participation in their classrooms, promoting discussions and open dialogue.
- Foster a classroom culture of inquiry and creativity.
