WORKSHOP TITLE: Integrating Coding and Robotics into Education in Barbados
DURATION: Two (2) full days, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily ( 10 hours)

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
This workshop seeks to provide a foundational overview of the educational importance and pedagogical impact of Coding and Robotics. It additionally offers an intensive, hands-on experience to motivate and prepare educators to guide students toward careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), and Education. Over the two day experience will facilitate exposure to and the development of critical 21st-century life skills, such as; problem-Solving, teamwork and collaboration, communication critical/logical thinking, project management and The 16 Habits of Mind
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the workshop participants should be able to:
- Program a diverse selection of robotic platforms to execute simple, defined tasks.
- Establish and articulate the connections between real-world robotic applications and everyday functions.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the cross-curricular integration of Coding and Robotics within their specific subject areas.
- Develop a subject-specific lesson plan that incorporates a Coding and Robotics activity.
TARGET PARTICIPANTS:
Primary and Secondary School Teachers (Erdiston Teachers' Training College)
REQUIRED MATERIALS:
Participants are required to bring a laptop or any other type of electronic device. The workshop facilitator will provide all other materials.
