TOPIC: Integrating Science Process Skills (SPS) in Primary Science Planning
DURATION: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (3 hours)
FACILITATOR: Ms. Rozanne Walrond
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
This interactive workshop equips primary science educators with strategies to embed science process skills—such as observing, classifying, predicting, measuring, and experimenting—into their science lesson planning. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, analyze lesson plans, and collaborate to develop inquiry-based science lessons that foster critical thinking and exploration in young learners.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the workshop participants should be able to:
- Identify and define key science process skills (SPS)
- Understand how to effectively integrate SPS into primary science lesson plans to foster inquiry-based learning and scientific thinking in students.
- Reflect on their role in fostering scientific inquiry, curiosity, and critical thinking in young learners, promoting a positive attitude toward science.
- Develop strategies to differentiate instruction, ensuring that SPS activities are accessible to diverse learners with varying abilities and learning styles.
- Design methods to assess student use of SPS in practice.
