TOPIC: Understanding and Catering to the needs of students with Intellectual Impairments in the Inclusive Classroom

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
The workshop will cover definitions, descriptions, and observed characteristics of students with Intellectual Impairments. Participants will be exposed to strategies, best practices, and the creation and use of learning materials. Methods used will include lectures, discussions, group activities, demonstrations, vignettes, observations etc.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Understand the concepts related to Intellectual Impairments
- Be familiar with High Incidence Exceptionalities
- Recognise the characteristics of students with Intellectual Impairments
- Discuss the educational rights of children with exceptionalities
- Display skills in creating and using learning activities, and materials for students with Intellectual Impairment.
- Articulate best practices in the education of students with exceptionalities
